Three of Oahu’s Most Famous Beaches

With an associate of science degree in power plant process technology, Heath Harmon received the 2017 Student of the Year at The National Energy Center of Excellence recognition. Heath Harmon enjoys being in nature and has traveled to Oahu, Hawaii, to enjoy the island’s natural beauty while touring its north shore.

Oahu’s north shore beaches are among the best on the island due to their white sands and clear waters. Three of the most famous beaches in the area are described here:

1. Waimea Bay

This bay offers a range of adventures year-round. The bay is calm in the summer months and is popular with beachgoers and swimmers. At the end of the bay, a 30-foot rock provides a ledge to jump from into the waters below. There are also multiple caves underneath the rock to explore. During the winter, pro surfers ride the large waves that crash into the bay.

2. Sunset Beach

This beach spans over two miles and is known for its stunning sunsets. Sunset Beach is also an ideal site for winter surfing since the waves here reach 15 to 20 feet. Top surfing competitions, including the Vans World Cup, are held here.

3. Shark’s Cove

An ideal spot for snorkeling, Shark’s Cove features shallow waters and several tide pools to investigate. Snorkeling in deep water is also possible here and provides an opportunity to explore a coral reef and see marine life, including sea turtles and tropical fish.
